Local Artists Honored for Service to the Commonwealth of Kentucky

Deborah and Mark Bohland were recently honored by Kentucky Governor Paul E. Patton for their contributions to professional photographers in that state. Deborah & Mark, who operate First Impressions and Maranatha Photography respectively, served as artist lecturers at the annual convention of the Professional Photographers of Kentucky. In addition to being recognized for their efforts by the Professional Photographers of America, the Bohlands were each honored by Governor Patton with membership in the Order of Kentucky Colonels, for "service and accomplishments on behalf of your fellow man."

"We were just happy to have been able to share our knowledge, with colleagues in another state," said Mrs. Bohland.  "Being recognized by their governor, was a delightful surprise!"

Mrs. Bohland demonstrated state of the art digital imaging techniques she uses to transform traditional photographic images into artistic watercolor prints. She creates these "painting like" watercolor prints for photographers in several states and Canada.

Mr. Bohland shared marketing and customer service principles with the state's professional photographers, emphasizing the need to integrate all aspects of studio operation in ways that benefit an increasingly sophisticated clientele.

The Professional Photographers of America is the oldest Photographic Professional Association in America. It exists to assist its more than 14,000 members in achieving their artistic and professional goals, to promote public awareness of professional quality photographic images; and to advance both the art and science of visual imagery.
